ScioTeq’s David Delbaere, Project Manager and head of Innovation, and Dominiek Saelens, Sr Product Manager, Avionics,  are proud to announce ScioTeq’s participation in the Next Generation Military Integrated Modular Avionics (NG-MIMA) project, a European Defense Fund (EDF) initiative aimed at advancing air combat capabilities. Selected for funding under the EDF 2023 program, NG-MIMA officially launched in December 2024 and brings together 21 partners from across the defense industry, including ScioTeq.

NG-MIMA is dedicated to identifying the requirements for next-generation military integrated modular avionics (IMA), establishing high-level architectural principles for multi-domain operations and security, and pinpointing key technologies for future solutions. By leveraging a system-of-systems approach, the project seeks to enhance data sharing and processing capabilities while addressing the specific needs of development cycles and defense missions. Its ultimate goal is to revolutionize military avionics by introducing advanced, integrated modular avionics tailored for airborne defense platforms.

ScioTeq will contribute its expertise in IMA, graphical processing, rendering, and networked video to support the project’s development efforts. With a duration of 36 months, NG-MIMA will drive innovation in military avionics, reinforcing European defense capabilities.

The European Defense Fund (EDF), an initiative of the European Commission, plays a crucial role in strengthening Europe’s defense industry by fostering research and development. Designed to enhance the competitiveness of the European defense sector, the EDF supports collaborative projects that develop state-of-the-art, interoperable defense technologies. With an unprecedented budget and scope, the fund serves as a catalyst for industrial integration, helping Europe address emerging threats while securing a stronger role on the global stage.
