Product description
The RDU-4047’s 4"x7" (8") proprietary Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display and LED backlight technology deliver visual performance second to none. It offers high color depth, excellent contrast, stable color reproduction, very wide viewing angles, and superior brightness modes. The display can be mounted in portrait or landscape, either vertically in front of the pilots or tilted horizontally in the pedestal, ensuring perfect cross-cockpit visibility.
The RDU-4047 also supports virtual control panel functionality. This allows cockpit controls to be shown directly on the display, replacing multiple physical switches and buttons with a flexible, software-driven interface that adapts to the task at hand.
ScioTeq’s proprietary control mechanisms guarantee optical quality across the full operating temperature range and throughout the display’s lifetime. Optional light collimation further reduces reflections on windshields or canopies.
Its multiple digital video and control interfaces make it easy to integrate with different systems. The optional touchscreen enables a wide range of cockpit functions to be managed on-screen, supporting virtual control panel applications that help reduce hardware, cut costs, and save space. This makes the RDU-4047 ideal for Control Display, HUD repeater, and other avionics applications.
The RDU-4047’s software and firmware are developed according to DO-178 and DO-254 standards, up to and including Design Assurance Level (DAL) A.

What is a Virtual Control Panel?
Virtual Control Panel: Flexible, Space-Saving, and Built for the Future
A virtual control panel is a touchscreen version of traditional switches, buttons, and knobs. Instead of relying on fixed hardware, all controls appear on a digital display. The layout can change instantly to match the task, creating a fully adaptable workspace. It’s like having a cockpit that reconfigures itself to fit exactly what you need, when you need it.
Why choose a virtual control panel?
- Flexibility: Show only the controls you need for each operation, so the interface is always relevant.
- Space and weight savings: Ideal for aircraft, vehicles, and other compact environments where every gram and centimeter counts.
- Easy updates: Add or modify controls with a simple software update, no new hardware required.
- Faster training and operation: Logical layouts reduce complexity, speed up learning, and lower the risk of errors.
- Future-proof: As your systems evolve, your virtual control panel evolves too.
What this means for you:
With a virtual control panel, you replace bulky, fixed hardware with a smart, adaptable touchscreen. It adjusts to your workflow, saves valuable space, reduces weight, and grows with your needs, keeping your operations efficient, safe, and ready for the future.
