DVCU: Digital Video Controller Unit

The ScioTeq DVCU is a rugged, SWAP-C optimized Digital Video Controller Unit designed for mission-critical C5ISR applications. It provides a powerful, all-in-one solution for complex video-centric systems, combining an ultra-low latency hardware video switching matrix with the supercomputer-level AI processing of the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin™ GPU.


Advanced Video Processing & AI Compute

The DVCU is engineered to handle the most demanding video and data processing loads in real-time. The system architecture is built on two powerful, interconnected processing cores. 

1. FPGA-based Video Processing

At its core, the DVCU features an FPGA-based hardware video switching matrix. This allows for:

  • Massive Video I/O: Seamlessly manage up to 16 x 3G-SDI video inputs and 4 x 3G-SDI outputs.
  • Low-Latency Processing: The FPGA enables low-latency video processing, including video mixing, compositions, Picture-in-Picture (PiP), and basic stitching.
  • Additional Outputs: The system also includes 2 x DVI outputs and 2 x Video Ethernet outputs for maximum flexibility.
     

2. NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin™ Compute

For high-performance embedded computing, the DVCU integrates the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin™ Industrial SOM. This module provides supercomputer-level performance for AI and vision acceleration.

  • Massive Parallel Processing: Features a 2048-core NVIDIA Ampere GPU and 64 Tensor Cores.
  • High-Speed CPU: Driven by a 12-core Arm Cortex-A78AE CPU.
  • AI Performance: Delivers 245 TOPS for running modern, complex AI models.
  • High-Speed Memory: Equipped with 64 GB of LPDDR5 (+ECC) DRAM to support data-intensive applications.
  • On-board Storage: Includes options for removable SATA storage up to 4TB.

The DVCU is designed from the ground up to operate reliably in the harshest environments.

  • MIL-STD Power: Equipped with a 28VDC MIL-STD-1275F compliant power supply.
  • Environmental Resilience: Qualified for MIL-STD-810G, it operates in extreme temperatures from -46°C to +63°C (-51°F to +145°F).
  • Sealed Enclosure: The unit is IP65 rated for ingress protection and compliant with MIL-STD-810G for sand & dust, salt fog, vibration, and shock.
  • EMI/EMC Shielded: Fully compliant with MIL-STD-461G for Ground Army applications.
  • Rugged Connectors: All I/O is routed through robust MIL-DTL-38999/3 connectors.
