ScioTeq Contributes Mission Computing Expertise to European Autonomous Refuelling Research Project
ScioTeq has joined the A3R H&D Phase 2 project, a European collaborative initiative focused on advancing autonomous air-to-air refuelling capabilities.
Bringing together the European Defence Agency (EDA), Airbus Defence and Space Spain, Airbus Defence and Space Germany, AES Technology, GMV, DLR, the von Karman Institute, and ScioTeq , the project will explore technologies that enable greater levels of autonomy in future aerial refuelling operations.
As part of the project, ScioTeq will provide a high-performance mission computing platform for the ground-based hardware-in-the-loop test environment. The platform will process data from RGB and infrared sensors and execute advanced vision-based algorithms used to estimate the relative position of tanker and receiver aircraft, supporting the evaluation of autonomous refuelling technologies.
The project also provides a valuable opportunity to further mature ScioTeq's mission computing capabilities. By leveraging a realistic test environment, the initiative will help assess future computing technologies and support the development of next-generation mission computing platforms for demanding airborne applications.
"Projects such as A3R H&D Phase 2 demonstrate the power of European collaboration in advancing critical defence technologies. We are proud to contribute our expertise in mission computing alongside leading aerospace, defence, and research organizations."
A3R H&D Phase 2 is an EDA Category B research project supported by the participating Ministries of Defence and administered by the European Defence Agency (EDA).
